Born in Hokkaido in 1905, grew up in Tokyo. Enrolled at Politics and Economics course of Waseda University in 1926 and retired next year. Joined in Kinyo-kai(Friday society) Kawashima Riichiro organised to become a painter. Won a prize from Kokuga-kai art society in 1929. Showed his work at the 1st Nihon Gendai Bijutsu ten(Modern Japanese Art exhibition) in 1954, at Sekai, Kyo no Bijyutsu Ten(World and Today Art Exhibition) In 1956. Joined in Sengo no Syusakyu ten(Masterpieces after War Exhibition) held at the National museum of Modern Art, Tokyo in 1973. After then his works kept on being presented at exhibitions including Sengo-Bijyutsu no Tenkai(Movement of Post-War Japanese Art- Diversification of Abstract Expression )at the National museum of Modern Art, Tokyo in 1973. In early stage he attracted much attention by his dynamic style, which is intersection of impromptu lines and colors. After that, his interest moved to drip technique or abstract expression by combination of colored glass and painting and introduced new style abstractionism. Died in 1997.
