Born in Hyogo prefecture, Japan in 1924. After graduating from Japanese painting course of Kyoto City College of Art, he changed to oil painting. Joined in Gutai Group in 1955, he introduced his works for Gutai Art exhibition from the first exhibition through 1972, when Gutai Group dissolved. Showed works by drawing with body part such as foot etc. In 1957 acknowledged by Michel Tapie, joined the movement of abstract. Created wild works by action painting. After holding solo exhibition at Stadra Gallery and Notitie Gallery in Torino in 1962, he mounted solo exhibitions in Europe. Awarded prize at the 8th Japan International Art exhibition in 1965. Gutai Bijutsu Association separated in 1972. After then vigorously mounted solo exhibitions and continues to question frameworks of paintings. Died in 2008 at age of 83.
