Born in 1966 in Quyang County, Hebei Province. In 1988, he graduated from the Printmaking Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Art). From 1988 to 1997, he worked as a teacher at Beijing Arts and Crafts School (now Beijing Design Institute). In 1997, he began his career as a professional artist.From 1989, Song Yonghong began to participate in different exhibitions. From 1996 to 1997, he participated in exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Poland, Denmark and other places.In 1998, he participated in the exhibition “The Breakthrough: Chinese New Art” at the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, USA. In 1999, he participated in the “Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition” at the LIMN Gallery in San Francisco, USA. In 2001 and 2002, he held solo exhibitions in Beijing and Hong Kong respectively.
