This is a perfume bottle with the motif of Lunaria, the "money plant". To express the bulging seeds inside the pods, Rene Lalique first press-molded the body of the bottle and then fused the base plate afterward so that he could engrave the interior of the bottle. Due to the complexity of this process, this piece is rare and precious, with only a limited number produced.
<Lalique and Flacon>
René Lalique, who achieved success as a jewelry designer during the Art Nouveau period, began creating perfume bottles after meeting perfumer François Coty in the early 20th century. This marked Lalique's first step into glass artistry. With his delicate and elegant designs, combined with his exceptional craftsmanship as a jeweler, Lalique elevated the perfume bottle beyond a mere container into a form of art. His bottles, which fantastically expressed the world of "fragrance," quickly captured the hearts of many and had a significant influence on the French perfume bottle industry. Each Lalique perfume bottle, encapsulating fragrance and story in every detail, continues to captivate hearts just as powerfully as it did a century ago.
